5 Incredible Music Events Coming to Hull in May
May is looking musical with a hot line-up of classical artists, pop groups and tribute bands performing across the city. We rounded up our top five gigs in May that are helping to make Hull an excellent city for property investment.
- The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra
Internationally recognised for its dramatic music-making, The RPO will perform at Hull City Hall on Tuesday 25 May. Bringing to live Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.4 and his Symphony No.9, the Orchestra will fill the hall with beautiful tones and sounds. Uplifting and emotional, this night will be one to remember. The group will be joined by Leeds Philharmonic Chorus as well as local artists.
Tickets start from £18 and more can be booked online.
- Radio 1’s Big Weekend
If pop is more your thing, the news of Radio 1’s Big Weekend coming to Hull will be music to your ears (pun intended). International stars Kings of Leon and Katy Perry will headline alongside Little Mix, Stormzy and a whole host of other chart sensations. The two-day festival takes place at Burton Constable Hall on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 May.
- Simon Vincent’s Piano Recital
The newly renovated Holy Trinity Church is an ideal venue for heavenly music. Performer and composer Simon Vincent takes to the stage with his enchanting piano playing on Friday 5 May. The afternoon begins at 1pm and will consist of three exquisite pieces, including Meditations on Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane, Stations of the Cross and My Cup Runneth Over. The performance takes the form of a dialogue between Christ and God.
- The Beautiful Couch
Can’t wait until the Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott concert in June? The Beautiful Couch is an excellent tribute band to The Beautiful South and The Housemartins. With sell-out gigs across the UK, the Couch gives audiences a taste of the hits from both legendary groups. The concert will take place at the KCOM Stadium on Thursday 18 May. Tickets start from £25 and can be booked online.
- The Hull Philharmonic Orchestra
On Saturday 13 May, Hull’s outstanding Philharmonic will perform at Hull City Hall for one incredible evening of requests. That’s right, you can decide exactly what they play at this Audience Chooses event. You can even meet long-serving conductor Andrew Penny before the show to find out about his career and love for music.
Tickets range from £5 to £27 and can be purchased online.
